Preparing to Teach a Class

Putting together a class is kind of like playing chess or driving a car - the steps sound trivially obvious when you know how, but the first few times can be intimidating! Assuming you've already decided on a general subject & audience (introduction to Windows for new computer owners, internet safety for parents, word processing for job seekers...), here are the next steps.

  1. Lesson plan
Decide what aspects of the subject you'll cover, and in what order
  2. Content - up soon
Prepare more detailed lecture notes, demonstrations, handouts, and exercises
  3. Logistics
Some thoughts on advertising (up soon) and registration
