Teaching - Introduction
Can do, can't teach - one session with a typical computer whiz is enough to convince most newbies that the old saying is dead on. But it doesn't have to be that way. This site is for people who know computers and want to get better at sharing the joy. How I came to write this. If you're in a real hurry, I can boil teaching down to two biggies: be prepared and work at the student's pace. The latter is where most computer experts trip up. Start with General Tips on avoiding that blank look we all hate so much. Being prepared is not difficult, exactly, but figuring out how and where to start can be intimidating. The techniques depend a great deal on whether you'll be helping walk-ins sign up for Yahoo or running a 12-week class. The Walk-ins section has advice for people answering quick, specific questions; or go to Classes for help putting together more formal lessons.
