This document is a practical technical reference of the TCP/IP protocol suite. The focus of
the document is on the aspects of the protocols that are of importance to an administrator
or technical person working in an Internet or Intranet environment. It is not an
exhaustive and comprehensive definition of TCP/IP and all of the various protocols that are
included in the protocol suite.
The complete details and definitions of the TCP/IP protocols suite are documented in the Internet Request For Comment (RFC) Library which is published at the InterNIC and at other publicly available sites. Selected RFCs that relate directly to material covered in this technical reference have been included at the end of the document for the reader's convenience. The authors of this technical reference are developing additional documents that include supplements with examples of specific networking, subnetting, and routing applications in particular environments such as Microsoft Windows NT and Linux UNIX. Please contact the publisher for information regarding the availability of these documents. |
