Networking Examples

The following are a few examples of different TCP/IP networks. These are intended to show common or typical networking configurations. In any given example there may be alternative methods for configuring the networks. Efforts have been made in these examples to follow conservative techniques so as to cause as few problems as possible with various varieties of hardware and software.

There are several different network addresses used in these examples. Some IP addresses are from the Private Network address groups and some are from actual IP networks. When setting up your own IP networks do not use the same IP addresses as shown in the examples unless the addresses are specifically identified as private network addresses. Apply for your own IP network addresses from your Internet Service Provider and use the addresses that they provide.

In the examples there are references to specific hardware and software types. This is because these equipment and software types are commonly found in Internet environments. Reference to specific hardware or software is not intended to be an endorsement of one brand in preference to any other.
