Foster Care Provider - Job Description

SUPERVISOR: Tracy McElman, Branch Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To work in partnership with staff in providing temporary and appropriate care to special need animals.

Responsibilities:

  1. To house & feed orphaned or newborn kittens or puppies OR to provide care for sick or injured animals.
  2. To provide medication and treatment as required.
  3. To pick up supplies at the shelter.
  4. To transport animals to veterinarian appointments.
  5. To socialize a variety of animals.

Qualifications:
  1. 18 years of age or older.
  2. Should have an up-to-date tetanus shot.
  3. Must have the ability and desire to handle animals humanely.
  4. Must complete all necessary paperwork & training (see below).

Training
  1. Initial Information Interview & Review Foster Manual
  2. Attend a Volunteer Orientation Session
  3. A Home Visit will take place at the applicant's home. Additional information and training will take place at this time and on an ongoing basis as needed.

Commitment: Minimum six month commitment on an on-call basis.
