Shelter Volunteer - Job Description

SUPERVISOR: Tracy McElman, Branch Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To work in partnership with volunteers and staff to ensure that animals within shelter care receive quality care.

Qualifications:

  1. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
  2. Volunteers must complete an orientation, interview and training session.
  3. Volunteers should have an up-to-date Tetanus shot.

Responsibilities:
  1. Socialize/Walk Dogs
  2. Socialize Cats
  3. Groom Cats & Dogs
  4. Dog Training
  5. Animal Care

Training:
  1. To complete necessary paperwork
  2. To attend and complete orientation, training session and a minimum on one scheduled "buddy shift" with a senior volunteer.

Commitment: Minimum requirement is 4 hours per month.
